NAIROBI: Nairobi will be hosting the 7th annual Information Technology summit that will run from 17- 18 of April. The attendees will comprise of service providers, social media players, applications developers, content providers, digital media brands and mobile advertisers. The agenda of the exhibition will be to showcase the latest technologies that need to be incorporated and practiced here in Africa. “The East Africa Com conference agenda addresses the hottest topics facing the Digital ecosystem in East Africa. Each session is about stimulating discussion using a series of C-Level roundtables, interviews, presentations, case studies and question and answer panel sessions,” reads the conference agenda sheet. The conference comes at a time when the whole of Africa is increasingly growing and expanding its markets by engaging in the development and use of ICT infrastructure. We also note that Africa is highly developing and engaging in the use of mobile technology. This can be seen in the rise of applications in the education, shopping and also agricultural sector. According to a GSMA report of 2011 that was conducted in Africa for the first time, research shows that Africa is the world's second highest mobile market. “With over 620 million mobile connections as of September 2011, Africa has overtaken Latin America to become the second largest mobile market in the world, after Asia.”
