KUALA LUMPUR: Children are to be barred from flying on the upper deck of the Airbus A380 on Malaysia Airlines flights, news reports suggested on Wednesday. According to reports, an advisory was issued to tourism agents that said children under 12-years-old would not be allowed to sit in the upstairs economy section of the superjumbo jet. The maiden flight for the A380 from Malaysia will head to London on July 1 and will be followed by a Sydney-Kuala Lumpur flight to be inaugurated on September 25. The move is aimed at ensuring a more restful and enjoyable trip for business travellers who have to fly in economy. Business Traveller magazine also picks up the story, saying “it is still unclear whether this ban also applies to the business class cabin that is also located on the upper deck” of Malaysia Airlines' A380s. Malaysia Airlines already had banned infants from the first-class sections of its Boeing 747 jumbo jets. The carrier said it plans do the same on its A380s.
