LAGOS: Enugu State government has committed to lend support to an local who has developed a wind turbine that generates 24 kilowatts of electricity at 10 meters per second wind speed. Patricia Arum, the state's Commissioner for Science and Technology, stated that the government would collaborate with the fabricator to diversify its energy sources. The creator, Sabastine Omeh, the Managing Director of Hybrid Micro Machines Products Ltd said the turbine was the result of two years of research, which he solely financed. Arum praised the fabricator for his ingenuity and said the state government was willing to partner with him to fulfill his objective to industrialize the state. She said the project was indigenous and was in line with the mandate of her ministry to harness human and natural resources in the state for sustainable development. She admitted that that so many industries find it hard to cope because the country faces serious challenges in electricity production. The commissioner added, “That is why even in this state, we don't want to depend on one source of energy, so we want to encourage him. And I know our state governor will be happy to partner with him because it is part of his four-point agenda. He wants to transform the state, he wants to empower the people of Enugu State.” BM ShortURL: http://goo.gl/M81Da Tags: Enugu, Nigeria, Power, Wind Section: Environment, Going Green, Latest News, Nigeria, Tech, West Africa
