Washington (dpa) – US Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton will travel to Saudi Arabia later this week to discuss the ongoing violence in Syria and other regional issues, the State Department said Monday. Clinton will meet with King Abdullah and Foreign Minister Prince Saud al-Faisal in Riyadh during the Friday and Saturday visit and will attend a ministerial meeting of the Gulf Cooperation Council-US Strategic Cooperation Forum. She will continue to Istanbul Saturday and Sunday to attend the second “Friends of the Syrian People” meeting, at which countries will discuss efforts to end the bloodshed in Syria and encourage a democratic transition.
