New York (dpa) – Lawyers for Facebook and its founder Mark Zuckerberg on Monday filed a motion to dismiss a case in which a man claimed ownership of half of the social networking company on the grounds that he had paid Zuckerberg to develop its initial software code. The filing was made in Buffalo, New York, where Paul Ceglia filed suit in 2010 against the Facebook founder. Lawyers for Zuckerberg argued that the claim was based on forged emails and other fraudulent documents, blasting the lawsuit as a “brazen and outrageous fraud.” In their 74-page filing, obtained by dpa, the Facebook lawyers accused Ceglia of forging contracts, emails and other documents, and destroying evidence that would have undermined his case. “This lawsuit is a fraud,” the motion charged. “This case should be immediately dismissed.” The motion came as Facebook prepares to file for an IPO which is expected to value the company at as much as 100 billion dollars.
