CAIRO: South Africa security forces arrested on Monday 12 Egyptian citizens for entering the country illegally and infiltrating its borders with the help of smugglers. The Egyptians are reportedly from the Kafr el-Sheikh and al-Gharbiyah governorates, the foreign ministry said in a statement. Tarek Abu Senna, Deputy Assistant to the Foreign Minister for Consular Affairs, and travel advice, said on Monday that the Egyptian Embassy in Pretoria had reported that the South African authorities “arrested 12 Egyptians and placed them in prison as a prelude to deporting them and that the Embassy sent delegates to meet them to follow-up [on] their condition and ensure their deportation to Egypt.” He said that the Egyptian delegation found out that the Egyptians had snuck into South Africa with the help of smugglers and that they crossed the border “through unsafe and rugged roads and are subjected to paying a fine, detention and deportation as a result of violating the laws.” The Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs warned its citizens from attempts to enter the territory of South Africa, illegally, “in order to preserve their lives and to avoid detention and deportation.” BM ShortURL: http://goo.gl/jNGyD Tags: Border, Egypt, featured, South Africa Section: Egypt, Latest News, Southern Africa
