LAGOS: Leading network operator MTN Nigeria has opened its first-ever Partner Shop in Lagos. The MTN Partner Shop is conceived for the purpose of offering services beyond airtime and SIM sales to over 40 million subscribers on its network. Due to its pressing need to reposition its trade partners, the company has proposed to increase their capacity to offer increased Information and Communication Technology (ICT) and data services in the country. According to Breet Goschen, Chief Executive Officer MTN Nigeria, the move was in line with the firm's vision to transform the company from just a telecommunications provider to Nigeria's leading ICT company. Goschen said, “for us at MTN, our trade partners are an integral part of our success story. Through their steadfast and tireless efforts, our partners have contributed immensely to our market leadership despite increasing competition. “However, with the changing competitive landscape and the increasing focus on data and ICT services, it is clear that a partnership that continues to focus on sale of airtime and SIM cards alone at the wholesale level will not survive the emerging trends.” He further stated that this Partner Shop initiative is one of the numerous ways that MTN is striving to fulfill their objective. The MTN boss assured the trade partners that the MTN Partner Shop would enhance the trade partners' ability to remain competitive. He said that the repositioning would make them relevant key players in the competitive telecoms industry leading to more revenue streaming in. Goshen further disclosed that the company intends to create 120 MTN Partner Shops across the country in various locations.
