CAIRO: The Egyptian embassy in Damascus reported on Monday that 100 Egyptians were deported from Syria in only three months. Egypt's state-run Middle East News Agency (MENA), reported that12 Egyptians were deported on Monday, after they were arrested by the Syrian Authorities for illegal entry. The embassy explained that it intervened to release and repatriate them. The Egyptian embassy also noted that the number of Egyptians deported from Syria increased during the past three months to 100, compared to 80 persons over the past year. Mahmoud Omar, of the Egyptian embassy, said that the number of Egyptians attempting to enter Lebanon across Syria, illegally, is increasing at a dangerous rate. He added that four Egyptians died while attempting to cross the Syrian–Lebanese borders; one of them was shot dead, while two others died due to exposure in the freezing temperatures of the Swaida Governorate in Syria. The fourth died from a heart attack. The bodies were deported at the expense of the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
