Yemen bank robbery sees millions stolen
Published in Bikya Masr on 14 - 03 - 2012

ADEN: Unknown Yemen gunmen dressed as Central Security soldiers and attacked a CAC bank vehicle as it was transporting large sums of money to an undisclosed location.
It is important to note that the bank is state-owned, which points to a direct attack against the government rather than a simple heist.
The men attacked the car in al-Tiise'en round street In Al Mansoura, a district of Aden, and shot the car before striking the driver and his followers. They drove the car to “Kabouta area” in Aden where they changed vehicle in favor to a more discreet light blue Hyundai.
Witnesses said they saw Central Security men changed into civilian clothes before rushing off in their car. They also added that very much like al-Qaeda militants they had long beards, which is not common for the Central forces.
It's worth mentioning that there were about YR. 75 million, SR. 445.000 (YR.25 million), US Dollars 60.000 (YR.13 million) and Euro 3000 (YR. 800 thousand) which is accumulated to be around YR.114 million.
