DUBAI: At least four Maoist rebels were killed in combat in India's eastern state of Jharkhand on Monday, a media report said. About 300 militants attacked a state-run coal mining project in Chatra, 160 kilometers north-west of state capital Ranchi and set fire to 19 vehicles. Police said a security guard was also injured. The Maoist insurgency, which started in the 1960s, now affects more than one-third of India's 626 administrative districts. The rebels claim they are fighting for the rights of tribal, landless and poor people. BM ShortURL: http://goo.gl/ozQNN Tags: Attack, China, India, Maoist Rebels Section: Latest News, South Asia
