CAIRO (dpa): British boxer Dereck Chisora has been banned indefinitely by the World Boxing Council (WBC) over various incidents surrounding the world title bout with Vitali Klitschko two weeks ago. Chisora was to be excluded from WBC rankings and fights indefinitely, the Mexico-based boxing body said in a statement issued late Tuesday, after clashing with opponents outside the ring. He brawled with former champion and compatriot David Haye in the early hours of February 19 at a news conference following a points defeat to Klitschko. Chisora also slapped Klitschko at the pre-fight weigh-in and spat water at Klitschko's brother, Wladimir, in the ring shortly before the fight. The WBC called the incidents, which it was dealing with together, “one of the worst behaviors ever by a professional boxer.” The body told Chisora “to take an anger management medical treatment after which his suspension will be reconsidered.” The boxer was last week fined 100,000 dollars by the German professional boxing federation BDB for the affray. The WBC said it also was considering imposing “a serious fine to be finally determined after the hearing to be held under the supervision of our counsel.” BM ShortURL: http://goo.gl/MXYkL Tags: Banned, Chisora, From Boxing Section: Media, Sport
