At least 8 Saudis from the same family died and 7 others were injured in a fire that burned their house down in the village of al-Tahima in the Ahsa' province, in the eastern part of the ultra-conservative kingdom. A press statement mentioned that the fire started in a small storage room in the house and spread to the rest of the traditional structure. Five children were among the dead and three women in their early twenties and thirties. Eyewitnesses reported clouds of black smoke coming out of the house on Thursday night and they broke the door down in an attempt to save the family. The neighbors saved two children, but the increase levels of smoke drove them out and ended the rescue attempt. The injured were taken to local hospital nearby as around 7 ambulances attended to the wounded. Only five of the whole family were saved and are now hospitalized after the fire department rushed to the scene. Inhaling smoke is the leading cause of death in fires, as it poisons the body and causes heart failure. BM ShortURL: http://goo.gl/GhtjZ Tags: Death, Family, Fire Section: Latest News, Saudi Arabia
