Stockholm (dpa) – British Prime Minister David Cameron on Thursday said there was need to continue to pile pressure on the government of Syria over its bloody crackdown on the opposition. “Clearly what we are seeing on our television screens is completely unacceptable,” Cameron told a news conference in Stockholm. “It really is appalling to see the destruction of Homs,” Cameron said. “It is quite clear that this is a regime that is hell-bent on killing, murdering and maiming its own citizens.” Cameron was in Stockholm for an informal meeting of Baltic and Nordic leaders. He said they had discussed Syria over lunch. The British leader said there was need to “take the toughest response we can,” and said he was “very disappointed” when Russia and China vetoed a UN Security Council resolution to end the violence in Syria.
