Detmold, Germany (dpa) – A Kurdish woman living in Germany, who disappeared months ago after maintaining a relationship opposed by her family, was feared dead after a body was found in bushes in northern Germany. A state prosecutor would not confirm the identity on Sunday, pending DNA results, but police and prosecutors believed the body, found near Hamburg on Friday, was that of 18-year-old Arzu Ozmen. Ozmen had started a relationship with a German baker, but her family – of Yazidi faith – opposed her relationship to someone of another faith. Four of her brothers and one sister have been held in custody since early November, on suspicion of having kidnapped Ozman from her boyfriend's apartment on November 1. They have remained silent over the allegations. The body, found early Friday near a golf course in the town of Grossensee, 20 kilometers east of Hamburg, was the victim of a violent crime, police said, adding that she had probably been killed elsewhere. German investigators had contacted authorities in the family's Turkish home region, in their efforts to locate her.
