CAIRO: An Italian tanker was hijacked on Tuesday by suspected Somali pirates off the coast of Oman, Italia media reported. The vessel was identified as the Enrico Ievoli, belonging to a Naples-based shipping company, Marnavi, the ANSA news agency said. Some six Italian nationals were believed to be aboard the tanker, according to television news channel, Sky TG24. No Omani government official has yet to make a statement on the reported seizure. Somali pirates have been becoming more ambitious in their attacks on ships in recent years, especially as the international media shies away from reporting on the Horn of Africa area. Seizing ships off Oman's coast, however, is relatively uncommon. BM ShortURL: http://goo.gl/yDgWt Tags: Italy, Somali Pirates, Tanker Section: Europe, Latest News, Oman
