Ramallah (dpa) – The number of Palestinians worldwide is expected to reach 11.2 million by the end of the year, half of them living in the West Bank, Gaza Strip and in Israel, the Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics said Monday. A report issued by the bureau said that by the end of 2011, more than 4.2 million Palestinians would be living in the West Bank and Gaza Strip. Of them, 2.6 million would be living in the West Bank and 1.6 million in the Gaza Strip. Less than half of the Palestinians in the West Bank and Gaza have refugee status, the majority of them living in the Gaza Strip. Of the remaining Palestinians, almost 5 million live in the Arab world, most of them refugees or the descendents of refugees from the 1948-49 Arab-Israeli war. The majority live in Jordan and Lebanon. BM ShortURL: http://goo.gl/5SWun Tags: Population Section: Latest News, Palestine
