Published in Bikya Masr on 15 - 10 - 2011

DUBAI: The Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development is bringing its annual “Discover Education City” undergraduate admissions campaign to the United Arab Emirates, as part of its mission to “foster a culture of knowledge, leadership and innovation among the youth across the region.”
The campaign, which was in Oman last week, will head to the United Arab Emirates on Sunday and run through Tuesday, during which several admissions events are set to take place.
The campaign, which will continue to other key cities in the region following the United Arab Emirates, aims to raise awareness about the premier education opportunities in Qatar, which are available to students here in the region.
The three-day tour includes visits to secondary schools, mini-fairs and a dinner for high school counselors, where high-school students, educators and administrators will meet and interact with Qatar Foundation representatives and admission teams from the participating universities, to learn more about the academic programs, admissions requirements and application process.
Qatar Foundation has vast resources available to help students through their academic life, from financial aid and scholarship options, top research facilities, internship opportunities at organizations in Qatar and the region, offering the students an overall positive learning experience.
Qatar Foundation believes that future success is driven by knowledge, research and innovation, and it is of utmost importance to ensure that today's generation is prepared with the right tools and skills in these areas.
Each of Qatar Foundation's undergraduate programs embody these core principles. By investing in and reaching out to students from the UAE and other neighboring countries, Qatar Foundation ensures that its students have a strong foundation in higher education, global networking opportunities coupled with unique student experiences on a multi-cultural campus, close to home.
“We are glad to be part of this regional recruitment drive and visit prominent schools in the UAE to present to national and expatriate students the many opportunities that Qatar Foundation has to offer,” said Noha M. Saleh, Director of Student Recruitment at Weill Cornell Medical College in Qatar.
“Our aim is not only to attract promising students to enroll in our programs, but also to help guide them through a rigorous academic path encompassing world class education, latest advancements in their chosen field of study, funded research opportunities and travel; as well as a secured and well-balanced multicultural student environment. I believe Qatar Foundation is currently producing well-rounded graduates ready to integrate rapidly in the fast-changing market place as demonstrated by their track record,” she added.
Education City was established by Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development with the aim of promoting excellence in education in Qatar and in the region. It is the thriving home of world-class education by a host of international universities, foundation programs and innovative research projects. On site are renowned universities offering undergraduate degrees, carefully-selected for offering top programs in their respective area of teaching: Virginia Commonwealth University in Qatar, Weill Cornell Medical College in Qatar, Texas A&M University at Qatar, Carnegie Mellon University in Qatar, Georgetown University School of Foreign Service in Qatar and Northwestern University in Qatar.
