The number of people killed in an attack on a police station in al-Arish, in Egypt's northern Sinai Peninsula, on Friday has risen to at least five, with another 15 injured, medical sources said on Saturday. The latest victim died on Saturday morning in a Cairo hospital, after having been transported from Arish on Friday night. Three civilians and two officers are the confirmed victims of the attack, including a 13-year-old-boy, an 18-year-old youth and a 70-year-old man, who all died from gun shot wounds. The state-run MENA news agency reported that four army officers, 9 security guards and 6 civilians were wounded in the attack. They died while the police and the army were fighting an attack from masked gunmen at the station and the civilians were caught in the line of fire. Egypt's Supreme Council of the Armed Forces (SCAF) said in a statement Saturday morning that five suspects were arrested, but did not give further details on their identity. Eye witnesses say the attackers used machine guns and small rockets in the attack on the police station. Prior to their attack, the masked gunmen, around 100, were riding in motorbikes and cars, firing into the air and waving black flags with Islamic slogans on them, eyewitness said. BM
