Globacom has announced it would be launching a new 3G service in the Nigerian state of Enugu in the near future to focus their efforts on developing the technology in rural areas of the country. The announcement came during an address with the local government, stating the move is part of its ongoing strategy in Nigeria. According to Glo, Enugu was “one of the first cities where the company launched its services and that it had ever since then, continued to expand and improve on its effective and efficient services to all her subscribers.” The company added that “since then, we have pursued with vigor the total coverage of the state and the entire Region. We have continued to roll out services in areas seemingly to remote to be considered by competition especially distant villages and communities.” According to the statement from the company on its planned expansion, “the 3G equipment will make for faster and reliable internet connectivity at an affordable rate,” adding that as a responsible Nigerian Company and stakeholder in Nigerian's development they “would continue to sensitize all subscribers about the need to register their SIM Cards.” BM
