CAIRO: Lebanon and Kuwait are looking for more economic, cultural and medical cooperation and on Wednesday, the two governments inked a new deal that will make this a reality. Kuwaiti Emir Sheikh Sabah Al-Jaber Al-Sabah signed the new deals on the final day of his Lebanese tour. He met with Lebanese President Michel Sleiman where the two discussed ways and means of creating a “brighter future” for the two countries to work together. “Lebanon is the Arab cultural archetype which we are keen to emulate in its safety, prosperity and progress,” the Sheikh said after the meeting with the Lebanese president. The Emir was on a two day visit to Beirut that ended on Wednesday evening. The Emir was also accompanied by a number of ministers who were catalysts in getting the agreements signed. Kuwaiti Minister of Finance Mustafa Al-Shimali as well as Lebanese Minister of Foreign Affairs and Immigrants Ali Al-Shami signed two deals to bolster cooperation within the economic and commercial sectors. Undersecretary for the Kuwaiti Foreign Ministry Khaled Al-Jarrallah signed with Lebanese Minister of Culture Salem Wardeh an agreement to bolster relations within the cultural sphere. A deal and an MoU in regard to the Beirut Museum were signed between Director General of Kuwait Fund for Economic Development (KFAED) Abdulwahab Ahmad Al-Bader and Minister Wardeh in addition to head of the Lebanese Council for Development and Reconstruction Nabil Al-Jesr.
