Egypt recalled its ambassador to Turkey for consultations on Thursday, Foreign Minister Nabil Fahmi's Facebook page said. This step comes after Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan condemned Egypt's clearing out of the Muslim Brotherhood's protest camps in Cairo on Wednesday. No further details were available. A Turkish Foreign Ministry official said earlier on Thursday that Turkey recalled its ambassador to Egypt for consultations following Ankara's strong condemnation of what it called the bloody oppression exercised by Egyptian security forces on supporters of ousted President Mohamed Mursi. Turkey emerged as one of the countries that criticized Egypt the most for what it called an unacceptable coup after the Egyptian army toppled Mursi in July. Turkey urged the United Nation's Security Council to act in order to stop the bloodshed in Egypt.
