Gaza border with Egypt in Rafah continued closed for the second day after the abduction of seven police officers and armed from the Egyptian army. The police protest comes after masked gunmen ambushed two taxis at gunpoint outside the city of el-Arish, the capital of North Sinai governorate, fleeing with four border policemen working at the Rafah crossing, a riot policeman, and a military border guard. Abdel Fattah Harhour, governor of north Sinai said that he received a phone call from Egypt's president Mohamed Morsi to follow up the recent situation in the case. The governor confirmed that the security forces are on the ultimate preparations. The search of kidnappers continued as well. At Rafah terminal, one of the protesting policemen said his group plans to keep the crossing closed until their colleagues are freed.
