Published in Amwal Al Ghad on 26 - 08 - 2019

Egypt's president and current chairman of the African Union Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi discussed the partnership between Africa and the G7 on Sunday in Biarritz, France.
The event was attended by French President Emmanuel Macron, leaders of the G7 and the presidents of South Africa, Senegal, Rwanda, and Burkina Faso.
The session tackled the launch of a "balanced partnership" to overcome overpopulation, economic and climate challenges, as well as discussing a number of issues affecting economic and political development in Africa.
Addressing the session, El-Sisi stressed the need for boosting cooperation between Africa and its international partners, particularly the G7, to solve common issues.
“There is no alternative to dialogue [between African countries and international partners] to solve the challenges facing Africa in a way that suits our common interests,” he said, adding that there is no need to showcase the challenges facing Africa in detail, but "we need to work together to find solutions according to the continent's priorities."

The president also spoke of the efforts exerted to boost women's empowerment in Egypt, Africa and the world.
He also highlighted the importance of boosting join action with the G7 and strengthening peace and security in Africa to combat all forms of terrorism.
President El-Sisi also spoke about the situation in Libya and how the current conflict affected the security and the stability of its citizens as well as its neighboring countries amid the threat of terrorist organisations.
“The way out of the crisis in Libya is known and needs true political will to start a political reconciliation process that involves all sides of the crisis… [and] ending foreign intervention in Libya and to ensure the just distribution of state resources,” he said, adding that unifying Libyan state institutions was another important step in the Libyan reconciliation process.
