Tourism Ministry Seeks Restoring Int'l Festivals

Minister of Tourism Hesham Zazou approved the auspices of Luxor Egyptian & European Film Festival in its first edition in Egypt. It is supposed to be held from 17th to 22nd of September 2012; in an attempt to raise the tourism coming to Egypt.
Noon Foundation for Culture and Arts (NOONCA), Egyptian Ministries of Culture, Archaeology and International Cooperation as well as Egyptian National Film Centre (ENFC) will organize the festival.
Amr Al Ezzaby, Chairman of Egyptian Tourism Authority (ETA), said the festival seeks enhancing the film awareness, getting to know the cinematographic, audio and video works in Egypt and Europe, as well trying to attract a large number of audiences to the cinema in Upper Egypt. Moreover, the festival events will attract a large number of foreign tourists; consequently the European tourism might be reactivated in Luxor in particular, Egypt in general.
On other level, Magdi Selim, chairman of interior tourism sector, ETA, said the festival will witness global media coverage to shed the light on Luxor city and Egypt. He expressed his keen on raising the number of international festivals in Egypt, and historical places in particular.
Selim said the authority will organize a press conference on August 27, in Cairo, to announce the festival first edition, in the attendance of ministers of tourism and culture and Luxor's governor.
