Ministry of Housing Considers Transferring Industrial Lands to the Ministry of Industry

Dr. Tarek Wafiq, Minister of Housing and New Urban Communities has met Eng. Hatem Saleh, the Minister of Industry and Foreign Industry this Tuesday to discuss the plots of the industrial areas in new cities and how to handle the problem emerging from the fact that these plots are affiliated to the New Urban Communities Authority while the Industrial Development Authority is responsible for the allocation process.
Wafiq added that there is a proposal under discussion that the Industrial Development Authority should assume the role of the leading industrial developer in the upcoming period by obtaining the plots required from the the New Urban Communities Authority, providing utilities for them, dividing them according its industrial plans, and then allocating these plots to industrial investors.
This proposal will be presented to the Board of Directors of the New Urban Communities Authority, to make the suitable decision in order to guarantee achieving a number of objectives. These objectives include following the policy of the New Urban Communities Authority in developing its cities, providing the industrial plots requested by the Industrial Development Authority to carry out their projects,and assigning one institution to accomplish all procedures in order to facilitate the process for industrial investors.
On the other hand, Dr.Tarek Wafiq has held a meeting with the vice chairmen of the the New Urban Communities Authority, the Chief Policeman of the New Urban Communities, and the Chairman of the Apparatus of Sadat City, in order to work on eradicating encroachments on the urban expansion area in Sadat City and set a plan to prevent any future encroachments.
"We have coordinated with with the Chancellor Dr.Asharf Hilal, the Governor and Security Director of Menoufi, to work quickly on removing the encroachments on the plots located in the so-called 17 thousands acres area in Sadat city, which were encroached during the previous period of lawlessness," Wafiq said.
