Cityscape Awards Extends Deadline For Entries
Published in Amwal Al Ghad on 08 - 08 - 2012

Cityscape Awards for Emerging Markets, which honours property developers and architecture visionaries, has extended the deadline for submission of entries for the awards in all six categories to August 12.
Winners from more than 500 entries for the awards will be announced at an event on October 3 in Dubai.
Shortlisted nominees include entrants of previous Cityscape Awards events within the last 12 months held in Qatar, Egypt, Abu Dhabi and Saudi Arabia, alongside hundreds of new entrants.
Now in its 11th edition, the Cityscape Awards for Emerging Markets will feature alongside Cityscape Global, the Middle East's largest and most influential international real estate event, taking place from October 2 to 4 at Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre.
Wouter Molman, exhibition director for Cityscape Global said that the categories and criteria for the revamped awards programme now covers real estate development and architecture and are aligned with all other ‘feeder' Cityscape Awards programmes to ensure consistency across the separate events.
“With the Cityscape brand launching several new successful real estate events across the Mena region and other emerging markets in recent years, there was an increasing need to align our awards programmes to ensure the categories and judgement criteria were universal across all events," said Molman.
“This year, both architects and developers of winning projects will be awarded, and all categories have now been standardised across all the Cityscape Awards programmes we organise.
“This ensures that the pioneering real estate projects at the forefront of the international development arena from all over the world will be under a global spotlight at one time, celebrating excellence in real estate development and architecture."
The six award categories are divided into two subcategories to represent built projects and future projects. Categories include: Commercial & Mixed Use Project; Leisure & Tourism Project; Community & Culture Project; Residential Project; Retail Project; and Sustainability.
All submitted entries will be reviewed individually by an independent panel of judges from major real estate associations, including the American Institute of Architects (AIA) Middle East, the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (RICS), The Chartered Institute of Building, and the Emirates Green Building Council.
For the first time this year, all shortlisted entrants will also be invited to present their projects during a Judgement Day on October 1, with all shortlisted entries to be displayed at the Cityscape Awards Gallery on the exhibition floor at Cityscape Global.
The Awards are open only to projects in global emerging markets, including developments from the Middle East, Turkey, Russia, Africa, Asia Pacific (excluding Japan, New Zealand and Australia) and Latin America.
To enter, architects and real estate developers are required to register submissions online at cityscapeglobal.com/enter.
Cityscape Global is co-located alongside three dedicated conference programmes, the Global Real Estate Summit, the World Architecture Congress and the Retail City Conference, bringing together a combined 750 senior real estate professionals exploring opportunities and solutions.
