The arrival of a B737-800 NG airplane at Cairo International Airport on Monday marks the sixth plane to be delivered to EgyptAir from the US airplane manufacturer Boeing. An additional three planes will join EgyptAir's fleet according to a deal signed by the two companies to provide EgyptAir with 9 B737-800 NG planes this year. Out of EgyptAir's 66-plane-strong fleet, 26 are B737-800 NG models. Safwat Mesallam, chairman of the board of directors of EgyptAir Holding Company, said that the company aims to equip its fleet with 33 modern planes, in seeing a replacement and renewal plan through. Chairman of EgyptAir Airlines Sherif Ezzat said that the new aircraft contains 154 seats (16 business class and 138 economy class seats), USB power outlets to charge phones and computers, a Video on Demand system, and LED lighting to foster travelers' relaxation.
