Cairo - Egypt received a seventh Boeing 737-800 NG on Tuesday evening, as part of a recent deal on nine aircrafts of the same model between EgyptAir and Boeing, worth US$ 1 billion. The plane is the 67th in the EgyptAir fleet. An EgyptAir delegation traveled to Seattle, US, last week to finalize the delivery procedures of the seventh aircraft. Chairman of EgyptAir Holding Company, Safwat Mesallam, said that the company seeks to buy 33 more planes of the latest international models, as part of a plan to modernize the company's fleet. EgyptAir announced in July the purchase of nine of the latest 737 aircraft, valued at about US$864 million (almost LE9 billion). "With the introduction of new planes of this model, especially after adding special specifications in the new contract in terms of breadth of the seats and increased levels of well-being, we can move forward toward the completion of EgyptAir strategy to strengthen and modernize its fleet," Mesallam said. Eight of the aircrafts are being purchased with the assistance of Dubai Aerospace Enterprise (DAE), partly owned by the government of Dubai.
