Trade exchange between Egypt and Croatia have surged 25.8 percent to €175 million ($185.7 million) during 2016, from €139 million a year earlier, Egyptian minister of industry announced Monday. Egypt' exports to Croatia mainly potatoes, salt, phosphate, and dried vegetables; while it imports wood, apple, and pear. Egyptian exports to Croatia include potatoes, salt, sodium chloride, phosphate, and dried vegetables. On the other hand, Egypt's imports from Croatia include wood, apple, and pear. Minister Tarek Qabil has made these remarks following his meeting with Darko Javorski, Croatian Ambassador in Egypt, to discuss means of boosting bilateral trade and economic relations as well as establishing more joint projects. The meeting is part of preparations made ahead of Croatian President Kolinda Grabar-Kitarović's anticipated visit to Egypt in the next few months, heading a high-profile delegation of major companies interested in investing in the North African country, Qabil said. Croatia and Egypt are expected to sign several memoranda of understanding to boost bilateral economic ties during President Kitarović's visit to the country, ambassador Javorski said.
