EGX Loses EGP 1.7 Bln, EFG-Hermes 2.65% Down; Midday

The Egyptian Exchange (EGX) had on Wednesday midday posted losses of EGP 1.77 billion as the capital market has reached EGP 321.608 billion according to data compiled by Amwal Al Ghad at 10:45 GMT (12:45 local time).
The main index, EGX30 inched lower 0.52% to hit 4425.68 p. EGX20 went down 0.34% to reach 5007.03 p.
Meanwhile, the mid- and small-cap index, the EGX70 dived 1.25% to hit 391.19 p. Price index EGX100 sank 1.15% to reach 679.73 p.
Traded volume reached 76.960 million securities worth EGP 146.978 million, exchanged through 8.507 thousand transactions.
This was after trading in 135 listed securities; 108 declined and 12 advanced while 15 keeping their previous levels.
Non-Arab Foreigners and Arabs were net sellers seizing 24.27% and 7.58% respectively, of the total markets, with a net equity of EGP 20.135 million and EGP 1.694 million excluding the deals.
On the other hand, Egyptians were net buyers seizing 68.15% of the total markets, with a net equity of EGP 21.829 million excluding the deals.
EGX's leading shares witnessed unsteady performance. Shares of EFG-Hermes Holding (HRHO.CA) topped the EGX's midday downwards by inching lower 2.65% to reach EGP 9.91. Shares owned by Orascom Telecom Holding (OTH) (ORTE.CA) dived 2.01% to hit EGP 2.93. Shares of Orascom Construction Industries (OCIC.CA) went down 0.93% to hit 243.49.
On the other hand, the shares of Orascom Telecom Media & Technology Holding (OTMT.CA) had climbed 4.65% to hit EGP 1.35. Shares of Commercial International Bank- Egypt (COMI.CA) also inched higher 0.95% to reach EGP 24.35.
