Sisi reviews readiness to launch 4G licence

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi met Monday with telecoms minister Yasser El-Kady to discuss the final touches ahead of launching the new 4G mobile services.
The new licence is part of the Ministry of Communications' plan to improve the infrastructure of Egypt's ICT sector and to enhance internet and voice calls quality provided to citizens.
Sisi asserted that his government fully supports the ministry's steps towards finalising the new 4G licence preparations that ensures faster and better electronic services.
Presidential Spokesman Alaa Youssef said that Minister El-Kady reviewed a number of projects his ministry is currently working on including the implementation of Borg El Arab and New Asyut technology parks.
Sisi stressed the importance of developing the ICT sector's infrastructure as well as expanding IT services to cover all governorates including Upper Egypt. Such projects are supposed to create a great number of job opportunities for young people in addition to attracting additional foreign investments.
El-Kady also reviewed a report on the progress of establishing data centres that will be responsible for collecting databases of the state's institutions and sectors.
Moreover, El-Kady showcased his ministry's steps being taken to implement the new capital of Egypt that will be the biggest smart city in the Middle East region by using smart technologies to improve the efficiency of services and meet residents' needs.
