Egypt's exports of glass products increased by 17 percent to 290 million Egyptian pounds (US$32.6 million) during the first quarter of 2016 versus 248.6 million pounds a year earlier. According to the report released by Egyptian Chemical & Fertilizers Export Council (CEC) Tuesday, ten firms seized 72.3 percent of total exports at the end of March 2016 with 209.8 million pounds. Misr Glass Manufacturing Company S.A.E (MGM) was the largest exporter with exports estimated at 67 million pounds in January-March 2016 , getting 32 percent of the total exports, followed by Asfour Crystal whose exports recorded 39.7 million pounds, getting 19 percent of state's exports of glass products. The report showed that ten states captured 64.3 percent of Egyptian glass exports during the first quarter of 2016 with exports estimated at 186.4 million pounds. Sudan was the largest importer of Egypt's glass products with imports worth 51.2 million pounds, getting 27 percent of total Egyptian glass exports, then Lebanon whose imports reached 36.5 million pounds, i.e. 20 percent, then Algeria (21.1 million pounds), Morocco (19.2 million pounds), and Saudi Arabia (12.3 million pounds).
