Engineering council seeks boosting Egypt's exports to $2.7bn in 2016

Engineering Export Council of Egypt (EEC) eyes increasing sector's exports by 15 percent in 2016 to hit US$2.750 billion versus $2.4 billion in 2015, a member of the council said Wednesday.
Speaking to Amwal Al Ghad, Mohamed El-Aidy clarified that indicators of the first quarter of 2016 showed that sector's exports jumped by 12 percent to record $380.8 million opposed to $340 million a year earlier.
He added that EEC plans to enter new markets notably those in West and East Africa through cooperating with Egyptian Commercial Service at industry ministry .
The council has recently signed cooperation protocol with El-Nasr Export & Import Company to use its offices over 23 African states to promote products of engineering sector.
El-Aidy noted that the council is to send promotional campaign encompassing 25 engineering firms next May to Kenya to discuss opportunities of entering Kenyan markets in addition to the important products it needs.
The plan of EEC includes organising a number of other campaigns to Romania, Kazakhstan, and Côte d'Ivoire in 2016.
