Egyptian Prime Minister Ibrahim Mahlab witnessed the signing of three cooperation protocols Thursday with the Democratic Republic of the Congo in different sectors. The first protocol, signed between Egypt's Electricity Ministry and its Congolese counterpart- is to establish solar power plants in the Congolese capital Kinshasa. The plants are to be operated by photovoltaic cells with total capacities of 4 Megawatts (MW) The plants will be fully funded by the Egyptian government as part of the development of the Nile Basin Initiative. The second protocol was signed between the Egyptian and Congolese Environment Ministries to exchange knowledge and expertise in managing biodiversity, natural reserves and training as well as exchanging expertise in the field of climate exchange and environmental evaluation. The PM witnessed the signing of the third protocol between the Egyptian Health Ministry and its Congolese counterpart to carry out, equip and operate an Egyptian medical center in the Congolese capital to provide al health services to the citizens there. Following the signing of the three protocols, Mahlab held a meeting with the Congolese ministers of health, environment and electricity in which he welcomed their visit to Egypt to attend the inauguration ceremony of the New Suez Canal, hailing the bilateral cooperation ties between the two countries
