Egypt-based e-recycling company NTG, is participating today participates in a seminar "Towards Clean and Safe Disposal for E-waste". The event is organized by the state-owned Egyptian Natural Gas Holding Company (EGAS). NTG Company is a subsidiary of the Egyptian Electronic Recycling Co. (EERC). Ahmed Salem - NTG Chairman – said the company's participation in EGAS's seminar comes as part of its efforts to organise disposal for e-waste in Egypt. He pointed out that the company would address the environmental and health risks caused by the e-wastes of the country's information and communication technology sector. It would also tackle e-waste recycling and reusing in manufacturing small electronic circuits and others. Speaking to Amwal Al Ghad on Tuesday, Salem said NTG seeks to cooperate with the participant companies, aiming to spread the national awareness about the risks of e-wastes. Around 60 companies, most of them represent energy and petroleum sectors, are taking part in the seminar. Electronic waste or e-waste describes discarded electrical or electronic devices. Used electronics which are destined for reuse, resale, salvage, recycling or disposal are also considered as e-waste. Informal processing of electronic waste in developing countries may cause serious health and pollution problems, as these countries have limited regulatory oversight of e-waste processing.
