Egyptian civil defence authorities on Tuesday recovered the bodies of the final victims at the site of a collapsed factory in Obour City, east of Cairo. The clothes-dyeing factory collapsed early Sunday morning, with investigations showing that the collapse, which killed five people and injured 22 others, was due to a third story being built illegally, state news agency MENA said. Meanwhile, the Egyptian prosecution has banned the four owners of the factory from travel pending investigations into the reasons behind the collapse. On Monday, prosecutors ordered the detention of the building contractor responsible for the illegal floor's construction, Abdel-Rahman Abdullah, pending further investigations. Families of the victims and locals have also complained of a slow rescue operation by the civil defence team. Building collapses are commonplace in Egypt and are usually attributed to violations of building specifications, shoddy materials and lax construction regulations. Source : Ahram online
