Chinese Ambassador to Egypt Song Aiguo said that bilateral trade exchange between Egypt and China hit $9.2 billion in 2013, at about a 10-percent rise compared to 2012. Song expected that the volume of trade exchange would hit about $10 billion in 2014, adding that Chinese investments rose by 60 percent to hit $550 million. He stressed that Egypt is China's most important trade partner in the region, noting that his country appreciates the strategic role Egypt is playing. He also said Egypt has witnessed changes in the past year, but ties binding China and Egypt have been stronger. At a press conference, the ambassador noted that a recent visit by Foreign Minister Nabil Fahmi to China proved successful. Fahmi has discussed with Chinese officials the Egyptian road map that was announced after the ouster of president Mohamed Morsi, and ways and means of boosting bilateral ties, Song added.
