Prometeon Tyre Group, a subsidiary of China National Tyre and Rubber Co., Ltd., plans to invest $400 million to expand its operations in Egypt, producing 1.5 million additional tyres and upgrading its existing factory, the investment ministry said Tuesday. The announcement came during a meeting with Egypt's Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade Hassan El-Khatib in Cairo. The delegation included senior executives from Prometeon and China National Tyre and Rubber, including Stefano Ziliani, CEO & Managing Director Prometeon Tyre Egypt. El-Khatib praised the company's ongoing projects and pledged government support to accelerate production expansion and capital investment, noting Egypt's commitment to creating a favourable environment for investors. Prometeon's current factory produces 1.2 million tyres annually. The expansion will also introduce advanced tire manufacturing technologies and is expected to be housed on a new 200,000 square metre plot in Al-Amriya. The company also plans to establish a private free zone to support the expansion and enable full exports. The move underscores Egypt's strategy to attract foreign investment and strengthen its industrial base, particularly in the automotive sector. Attribution: Amwal Al Ghad English
