Egypt's Minister of Housing Sherif El-Sherbiny met on Thursday with a World Bank mission to explore future cooperation in integrated land management, smart cities, and green building initiatives, the ministry said in a statement. The meeting was attended by senior officials from the ministry of housing, utilities, and urban communities and World Bank delegation Almud Weitz, Regional Practice Director for Infrastructure in the Middle East and North Africa region, El-Sherbiny outlined Egypt's National Smart Cities Strategy, whose first phase is being implemented in several new cities, and discussed efforts to upgrade existing urban areas as part of the country's shift towards green and sustainable urban development. He said the government is committed to advancing smart city management, strengthening institutional frameworks that support sustainable growth, and attracting more residents and investors to new cities through incentives and investment opportunities. The World Bank delegation presented proposals for expanding cooperation in social housing, land and urban management, and potential financing for new projects that support Egypt's transition towards smart city administration.
