Egypt and Cyprus signed on Tuesday commercial agreements for the project to transport gas from the Cronos natural gas field to Egypt's infrastructure, on the sidelines of the Eastern Mediterranean Energy Conference and Exhibition (EMC) held in Limassol, Cyprus. The agreements define the operational and commercial frameworks for the transport, supply, processing, and liquefaction of gas for export, as well as the use of Egypt's infrastructure. Egypt's Petroleum Minister Karim Badawi, who witnessed the signing along with Giorgos Papanastasiou, Cyprus's Minister of Energy, Commerce, and Industry, said the agreements mark the culmination of successful understandings between President Abdel Fattah El Sisi and Cypriot President Nikos Christodoulides to strengthen cooperation and accelerate the connection of Cypriot gas fields to Egypt's infrastructure. He added that the agreements enhance Egypt's role as a regional hub for natural gas trade and distribution in the Eastern Mediterranean while supporting Cyprus's efforts to develop and export its gas resources through Egypt's infrastructure.
