Egypt's Minister of Investment Hassan El-Khatib met with executives from Boeing in Washington to discuss expanding strategic cooperation in the aviation and air transport sector, the ministry said in a statement on Monday. The meeting, held at the Egyptian Embassy on the sidelines of the IMF and World Bank Annual Meetings, focused on ways to develop Egypt's aviation industry and enhance its role as a regional hub for air transport, trade, and logistics. El-Khatib said Egypt has an ambitious plan to strengthen its aviation sector as a key pillar of economic growth and regional connectivity, noting that the government aims to integrate aviation with tourism, trade, and logistics under a unified strategy. He added that Egypt's recent economic reforms have boosted investor confidence and created a stable, transparent environment for long-term, high-value investments. The government, he said, prioritises attracting leading global companies in technology, digital transformation, and advanced infrastructure. Boeing executives praised Egypt's economic progress and institutional stability, describing the country as a key partner in the company's regional expansion plans. The company said it looks forward to deepening cooperation with the Egyptian government to develop air transport and commercial freight systems, in line with Egypt's strategy to expand exports and solidify its position as a major logistics hub linking Africa, Asia, and Europe. El-Khatib concluded that cooperation between Egypt and Boeing serves as a model for international partnerships based on technology and knowledge, adding that the government aims to build on this collaboration to attract further investment and boost competitiveness in high value-added sectors.
