Egyptian Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly will head his country's delegation to the 24th Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA) Summit in Nairobi on Wednesday, representing President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, the Cabinet said in a statement. Madbouly will be joined by Investment and Foreign Trade Minister Hassan El-Khatib at the gathering, which will bring together heads of state and government from COMESA member countries to discuss ways to boost regional integration, trade, and investment. Egypt's participation reflects Cairo's growing push to deepen economic cooperation across Africa and strengthen ties within regional blocs such as COMESA, the statement said. The bloc, which promotes free trade among its 21 member states, plays a key role in increasing cross-border commerce, joint investment, and private sector participation. Egyptian-origin products already enjoy tariff-free access to COMESA markets under the group's free trade area agreement. Beyond trade, Egypt aims to expand joint investments in industry, energy, infrastructure, and agriculture while supporting initiatives to develop regional value chains and enhance industrial integration.
