ChatGPT said: Egypt has invested 10 billion Egyptian pounds to upgrade and expand electricity distribution networks in North and South Sinai as part of a wider plan to drive reconstruction and sustainable development in the peninsula, its electricity minister said Monday. The announcement coincided with celebrations marking the anniversary of the October 6 War Victory. Mahmoud Esmat said work is under way to strengthen distribution networks and ensure stable power supply across 96 cities and villages. "The electricity sector gives special attention to providing power to anyone who requests it in Sinai," Esmat said, adding that the government is implementing "an ambitious and unprecedented plan for reconstruction and development." The project includes installing around 3,400 kilometres of underground cables and overhead lines and 13,000 low-voltage distributors, transformers, kiosks, and ring-main units to reinforce the grid. The network will serve about 155 residential, industrial, and agricultural complexes, as well as schools, hospitals, and water stations. Esmat said electricity has already been connected to several strategic, industrial, and desalination projects, while work continues to modernise customer service centres, expand the use of solar-powered mobile units, and install new medium-voltage transformers to improve efficiency. He added that upgrading the power grid across North and South Sinai remains a key component of Egypt's "New Republic" vision for sustainable and inclusive growth.
