Egypt's Ministry of Agriculture and Land Reclamation will host the AfricaRice forum meetings, a CGIAR research centre within the global food security partnership, from October 7-9, the ministry announced on Sunday. Agriculture Minister Alaa Farouk will chair the opening session, joined by African agriculture ministers, ambassadors of African states, regional and international organisations, and member state delegations. The ministry said the event reflects Egypt's leading role in supporting food security and agricultural development across Africa, citing its success in boosting rice productivity through new crop varieties. These efforts fall within both the African Union's Agenda 2063 and Egypt's Vision 2030 to achieve sustainable agricultural development and safeguard water and food resources for future generations. The Africa Rice Centre is an intergovernmental research body comprising 28 African countries, in which Egypt plays a key role in advancing efforts to improve the continent's rice sector, according to the statement.
