Egypt's Industry and Transport Minister Kamel El-Wazir met on Thursday with Gambia's new Defence Minister Baboucarr Ousmaila Joof to discuss ways to expand cooperation in transport, infrastructure and industry, the Egyptian ministry said. El-Wazir said Egyptian firms were ready to carry out infrastructure and industrial projects in Gambia, highlighting President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi's push to deepen ties with African nations and share Egypt's development experience. Joof, who previously served as Gambia's trade, industry, regional integration, and employment minister, conveyed greetings from President Adama Barrow to President Sisi. He praised Egypt's New Administrative Capital and said Banjul was keen to tap Egyptian expertise in mega-projects and industrial localisation.
