Egypt's Petroleum Minister Karim Badawy met on Tuesday with executives from Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) to review plans by Arcus Energy – ADNOC's joint venture with BP – to double gas production in Egypt within five to seven years. Arcus Energy, launched in December 2024, aims to become one of Egypt's top five gas producers. Badawy held the talks with Musabbeh Al Kaabi, ADNOC's upstream chief executive, on the sidelines of the Gastech 2025 conference in Milan, the ministry said in a statement. The minister also met with Patrick Pouyanné, chairman and CEO of TotalEnergies, to discuss cooperation in exploration and production, the expansion of natural gas and new energy projects, and potential fresh investments leveraging Egypt's energy infrastructure. Talks covered the application of artificial intelligence in exploration, technologies to curb carbon and methane emissions, and capacity-building programs, the ministry said.
