Egypt's Healthcare Authority (EHA) has launched on Monday a public awareness campaign in Port Said to promote the safe use of medicines and strengthen confidence in generic and alternative drugs under the country's Universal Health Insurance system. The campaign, branded "Your Health First... Don't Worry About the Alternative," includes awareness sessions, educational videos and simplified guides delivered at primary healthcare centers and units across the governorate, the authority said in a statement. EHA Chairman Ahmed El-Sobky said the initiative aims to reassure patients that approved generic alternatives are as safe and effective as original medicines when used under medical supervision. He added that drug education is a key pillar of improving healthcare quality, particularly for chronic conditions such as diabetes, hypertension and heart disease. The campaign is part of a broader nationwide effort to expand health education under Egypt's Universal Health Insurance scheme, which the government sees as central to building a modern healthcare system. "The patient will always remain the main focus of the Authority's development efforts," El-Sobky said. Attribution: Amwal Al Ghad English Subediting: Y.Yasser
