The head of Egypt's Central Administration for Plant Quarantine's (CAPQ) Mohamed El-Mansi on Tuesday announced the launch of a training series in cooperation with the European Union (EU) under the EU-ZIRA3A project. The initiative aims to enhance the capabilities of Egyptian agricultural quarantine inspectors, improve governance, upgrade electronic archiving systems, and strengthen pesticide monitoring, the statement added. The first training session targeted a group of 30 inspectors from Upper Egypt governorates — Assiut, Beni Suef, and Sohag — focusing on the latest inspection and control methods, best agricultural practices, and sampling techniques. The training was conducted in cooperation with Cairo Centre for Development Benchmarking and funded by the EU and the Italian Development Agency. Over two days, trainees received both theoretical and practical instruction, including field application at a pomegranate farm. The programme emphasised good agricultural practice requirements, visual inspection systems, and the import regulations of key markets, particularly the EU.
