Egypt is in talks with Japan to expand cooperation in manufacturing and localise advanced production technologies, the Ministry of State for Military Production said in a statement Sunday. Minister Mohamed Salah El-Din Moustafa met Japanese Ambassador to Egypt, IWAI Fumio to discuss potential joint ventures in defence and civilian industries, in line with President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi's push to attract foreign expertise and support local industry. The two sides reviewed ongoing projects, including the successful partnership with Japan's MIZUHA Co., Ltd to produce an air-to-water generator at the Helwan Company for Metallic Appliances, with more than 70 per cent of its components made locally. Minister Moustafa said the device meets national drinking water standards after over a year of testing. The minister emphasised the importance of combining Japan's industrial know-how with Egypt's production capabilities to enhance local industry quality and capacity, adding that the ministry remains open to working with private companies, both domestic and international. Ambassador Oka reaffirmed Japan's commitment to deepening bilateral industrial and trade relations, noting the strong ties between the two countries. He pledged to encourage Japanese investors and companies to explore opportunities in Egypt's defence and civilian manufacturing sectors. Attribution: Amwal Al Ghad English Subediting: Y.Yasser
