Egypt's Ministry of Health and Population signed a cooperation protocol with the Ministry of Technical Education, the Egyptian Drug Authority (EDA), and the technological institute for pharmaceutical industries (ITS Nuove Tecnologie della Vita) in Rome, Italy, to establish and develop five applied technology schools focused on pharmaceuticals and healthcare. The new schools, set to open by the start of the 2025/2026 academic year, aim to produce highly qualified technicians in fields of pharmaceutical manufacturing, cosmetics, nutritional supplements, clinical trials, and medical devices. Under the agreement, students will receive dual certification—a technological diploma accredited by the Egyptian Ministry of Education, an accredited certificate of experience issued by the Egyptian Drug Authority, and a competencies certificate issued by the Technological Institute for Pharmaceutical Industries in Rome. The curriculum will align with global standards, including GMP, GLP, regulatory affairs, and clinical trial protocols. The three-year programme may be extended by two additional years. Graduates who complete the third year will receive an accredited diploma in applied technological education and additional certifications from the Egyptian Drug Authority and the Rome-based institute, including a professional competency certificate. The initiative includes upgrading school infrastructure, teacher training, curriculum accreditation, and hands-on factory training, with a strong focus on international safety and quality standards.
